The Cardboard Explorer is the cheapest way to experience VR, all you need is a headset and a smartphone. The Cardboard Explorer 2.0 is based on the second iteration of the Google Cardboard design.
To use the cardboard explorer headset:
- Remove the outer sleeve.
- Open the velcro flap and fold out the side panels.
- Open your VR content on your phone, then insert into the headset.
The major upgrade in this second version of the cardboard headset is the conductive foam button which acts as a ‘click’ when pressed. This means you can interact with games, virtual environments and navigate through videos. Also included with the 2.0 is a protective sleeve, 2 x 45mm in-built lenses, and a new fold-out design which means there is no assembly required!
There is a huge number of games, videos and applications now for Google Cardboard style headsets. If you have never used a headset before we suggest watching Elephants in 4k, or following the 360-degree video channel on YouTube, Downloading the Google Cardboard App, or try “A Chair in 360“
